HEREFORD
Race 1 No7 ILLOGICAL LOGIC
Trainer: Christian Williams – Jockey: Toby McCain-Mitchell
ILLOGICAL LOGIC upped his game on a third start of the season when second at Windsor, in an exercise which should have helped put the cutting edge on him. He’s an infrequent winner, but appears to have everything in his favour today.
Race 2 No7 LOADED AND LOCKED
Trainer: Emma Lavelle – Jockey: Harry Cobden
Former winning pointer LOADED AND LOCKED gained valuable experience of this track when claiming a podium finish on his second outing over hurdles before Christmas. He wasn’t gaining on the pair that beat him on the short run in, which explains why his trainer is bringing him back to the minimum distance today.
Race 3 No1 VOL ROYALE (Nap)
Trainer: Kayley Woollacott- Jockey: Harry Cobden
VOL ROYALE showed promise in a couple of bumpers, and while taking two runs over hurdles for the penny to drop really found his metier when making all and flooring an odds-on foe over course and distance last month. He looked very good value for his margin of victory and can defy a 7lb penalty.
Race 4 No2 SOLDIEROFTHESTORM
Trainer: Jonjo O’Neill – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr
SOLDIEROFTHESTORM did us a favour when landing a gamble on his return to action over hurdles at Catterick where he was well on top at the finish. He switches to fences and goes straight into a handicap in a ploy that can see him keep up the good work.
Race 6 No9 JAMAICAINE
Trainer: Neil Mulholland – Jockey: Conor O’Farrell
JAMAICAINE opened her account after being backed from odds against to odds on here last month, and even though higher in the weights in a better race can go back-to-back, as the success has lifted her confidence level.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No2 TENBOB TOMMY
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Charles Bishop
TENBOB TOMMY has attracted support a couple of times on the AW but after travelling strongly weakening in the closing stages. His trainer brings him back in trip for a first crack at 1200 metres which can make the difference. His dam Swinging Jean won her only career start and was a speedy type.
Race 5 No4 MOUNT MOGAN
Trainer: Laura Mongan – Jockey: Luke Morris
MOUNT MOGAN has in the past benefitted from forcing tactics, or from being ridden close to the pace. The four times course winner is back operating close to a mark from which he last delivered here and is poised for an earning run.
Race 6 No2 CELTIC JOHN (Nap)
Trainer: Pat Phelan – Jockey: Paddy Bradley
CELTIC JOHN appeals as the best bet on this card following a much improved effort in early December when he travelled best only to find the horse that beat him getting first run on him. If getting a decent pace to aim at today his cause will be assisted, and that looks likely.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 3 No1 ALL MOONSHINE (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Jason Watson
ALL MOONSHINE did us a good turn with her clear cut delivery at Southwell a fortnight ago where she was well on top at the finish. She’s taken those exertions in her stride, and can defy her penalty as the best bet of the night.
Race 4 No5 THE CARIBBEAN
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Saffie Osborne
THE CARIBBEAN had good form in better races in 2025, and though taking a long time to get off the mark did so in style last week when advised in this column. Though faced with a tricky (high) draw he looked good value for his success, and has the right jockey on his back to follow-up.
