LINGFIELD PARK

Race 1 No9 CHLOE’S COURAGE (Each Way)
Trainer: John Ryan – Jockey: K S McHugh

CHLOE’S COURAGE has a 50 per cent record at being placed, and having outrun her 22-1 odds over course and distance last week has a good chance to make this her first career win. She raced from just out of the handicap on that occasion, but today carries her allocated weight.

Race 4 No4 KNIGHT OF GLORY (Nap)
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Knicks Go colt KNIGHT OF GLORY is bred to enjoy the dirt, as he indicated when taking away a minor cheque on his first start at Chelmsford. He is going to be more streetwise for this mission in which Rossa Ryan is an eye taking booking for him.

Race 6 No6 CHARLIE’S CHOICE (Each Way)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Luke Morris

CHARLIE’S CHOICE was pipped over a mile and a quarter here last week and is likely to enjoy the move to this 400 metres longer trip. It’s ten months since his last success, but on most occasions since then he’s given an earning account. I think it will be a similar outcome for him this afternoon.

SOUTHWELL

Race 1 No3 THE BLUESMAN
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

On a first start for Murphy, THE BLUESMAN needs to be taken seriously in this two and a half miles handicap chase. He did well for his previous handler by scoring on his first run back last season, rounding off with a less pleasing display when the money that came for him at Chepstow went west. He wasn’t seen afterwards, and it’s interesting that for this first run over fences he’s having his tongue tied down.

Race 4 No2 BIG WIGG
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Stan Sheppard

This maiden hurdle should be within the compass of BIG WIGG, who made a good impression when taking out a Huntingdon bumper208 days ago. The hooded selection represents a trainer who does well with graduates to hurdles and should give a good account.

Race 5 No7 MY CULLEN (Nap)
Trainer: Henrietta Knight – Jockey: Brendan Powell

MY CULLEN signalled with a career best effort at Lingfield that he’s ready to step up to the plate, and he’s an attractive proposition getting weight from his foes in this stayers’ handicap hurdle, in which DUEL AU SOLEIL looks his main barrier to success.

NEWCASTLE

Race 3 No3 CROWN THE FUTURE (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Morland – Jockey: Jack Callan

CROWN THE FUTURE was doing his best work at the finish when landing some good bets on his handicap bow at Wolverhampton and reappears quickly under a penalty. The manner of his success strongly suggests a move up to 1600 metres will be in his favour, and he can follow-up.

Race 6 No1 GOOD KARMA (Each Way)
Trainer: John Richard – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

Breaking from the rail, GOOD KARMA holds win and place claims in this bottom grade handicap round a lap of Dunstall Park. The grey is proving to be a consistent operator for his trainer, who does well with the horses he basement buys from other yards. If the five-year-old gets a lead into the straight and settles he can earn.

Race 8 No2 KIRKDALE
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Kevin Stott

Having gone close in each of his last two starts, this looks a good opportunity for KIRKDALE to post a deserved success. It was Bly by 8n he’s that he failed at this course last month, and he’s beautifully berthed in stall 4 to enjoy a good run through.
