Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Thursday’s race meetings at Haydock Park, Perth, Yarmouth, Epsom Downs and Newbury on 30/06/2022.
HAYDOCK PARK – 30/06/2022
Race 2 No8 STORM CHASER (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
Hurricane Run mare STORM CHASER got loose and never came back to record a 26 length first ever triumph at Nottingham. She goes unpenalised for an extraordinary success with a jockey in the saddle that will ensure she’s ridden in a similarly aggressive fashion.
Race 3 No7 ECHO CHAMBER
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Laura Pearson
ECHO CHAMBER upset a well regarded foe on herhandicap debut at Leicester and now gets 3lb taken off his back by a capable apprentice. The daughter of Postponed has a stout distaff line in his pedigree and should relish today’s track and trip.
Race 4 No4 ENDEARED
Trainer: Jams Fanshawe – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
Dark Angel colt ENDEARED stayed on into the money behind more experienced foes on debut at Doncaster. He looks a worthy favourite for a novice stakes in which those with a run under their belts might struggle to cope with him.
PERTH – 30/06/2022
Race 2 No7 CLIFFS OF DONEEN
Trainer: Rose Dobbin – Jockey: Craig Nichol
CLIFFS OF DONEEN has run well in back-to-back visits to this course, having opened his account under an enterprising ride at Carlisle. He can use his proven track craft to good effect and return to winning ways.
Race 7 No2 IRON HEART (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Phillip Armson
Courtesy of a good earning run at Worcester, and with a useful conditional taking 3lb off his back, IRON HEART can come out on top in an open contest and record a first triumph since undergoing a wind operation.
YARMOUTH – 30/06/2022
Race 3 No7 TWILIGHT GUEST ( Each Way)
Trainer: George Margarson – Jockey: Luke Morris
If there’s one that can improve and light up the board at an each way price then TWILIGHT GUEST is it. The Twilight Son colt competed in a red hot maiden on his Yarmouth introduction and is open to bundles of improvement.
Race 5 No4 CUBAN BEAT
Trainer: James Ferguson – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
As the least raced contender for this mile handicap, CUBAN BREEZE is a filly with potential on her second start for this trainer. She chased home a good yardstick in Loch Lundie at Thirsk and can confirm her liking for turf with a first career success.
EPSOM DOWNS – 30/06/2022
Race 2 No3 SELF PRAISE (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
Woodcote runner-up SELF PRAISE has stats of 4222 but there’s nothing ungenuine about him. The losses sustained on him at Newmarket last time can be recouped with interest on the way to better things.
Race 5 No3 URBAN VIOLET
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Darragh Keenan
Soft ground is a boon to URBAN VIOLET, who though an infrequent winner indicated with a near miss when easy to back last time that she’s on the cusp of a revival. She’s taken a long time to recover from a thumping from the assessor for a wide margin Newmarket success but is now weighted to win.
NEWBURY – 30/06/2022
Race 5 No4 ADMIRALTY HOUSE (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Martin Harley
On a line through Grand Alliance who has run well in Pattern company, ADMIRALTY HOUSE doesn’t look badly treated for this first venture into handicap company and showed on a first run on turf and over this trip that he’s on the cusp of opening his account.
Race 6 No9 HIROMICHI
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
HIROMICHI took a walk in the market that proved an ominous sign before his return from a lengthy absence and on handicap debut at Goodwood. He pulled off a shoe during the race and if that was the reason for his underwhelming run it should be well worth giving him another chance, as he’s not devoid of ability.
