Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing at Beverley, Salisbury, Ffos Las and Kempton on 10/08/2022.
BEVERLEY – 10/08/2022
Race 2: SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
Ignored in the market when second at 66-1 on his York debut, SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE has worked well subsequently, and can demonstrate with a win here that it was no fluke.
SALISBURY – 10/08/2022
Race 2: CELTIC CHAMPION (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Jason Watson
CELTIC CHAMPION finished fourth in a Goodwood maiden that’s already taken a knock, but the form still stacks up well in the context of this race and the son of Adaay has a good chance of opening his account against mainly unraced opposition.
Race 6: STAR OF VALOUR
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Hollie Doyle
STAR OF VALOUR is a regular earner at this level, though you have to go back to well over a year ago to chart his last win.
The one time inmate of Andre Fabre’s stable has underwhelmed in two previous visits to this venue but following a near miss at Windsor last time can now raise his game.
FFOS LAS – 10/08/2022
Race 1: WHISTLEDOWN (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
WHISTLEDOWN has shown a liking for undulating tracks with a recent win at Epsom and second at Brighton. She ran well in defeat on her only previous visit to this track, is versatile and takes her racing well.
She’s paid the price for her consistency, but has strong claims to regain the winning thread.
Race 4: KINRARRA
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
Australia filly KINRARRA put in a career best when chasing home Gliding Bay at Lingfield, showing she stayed every yard of the mile and a half.
Back in trip here, she should find the long home straight to her liking, and may not find top weight hindering her in such a compressed handicap.
Race 7: MUJID
Trainer: J Tickle – Jockey: Taylor Fisher
Frankel gelding MUJID has improved from race to race in three outings for his new trainer. The former Irish-trained gelding has few miles on his racing clock since switching to the UK, and is poised to open his account.
KEMPTON PARK – 10/08/2022
Race 2: QUANTUM LIGHT (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rob Hornby
Kodiac filly QUANTUM LIGHT made an aye taking debut to trouble the judge at Ascot where she was never closer than at the finish. Having shown signs of greenness, she will be more streetwise for this second career start, and should go one better.
Race 6: ROYAL THUNDER (Each Way)
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Neil Callan
Shergar Cup top jockey Callan can continue his fine form by guiding ROYAL THUNDER to a first handicap success at the first attempt. The selection showed improved form to take home a cheque at Newbury when very weak in the market, and could have been afforded a handy mark.
