Neil provides us with his best bets and tips for Monday’s race meetings at Lingfield Park, Southwell, Pontefract, and Windsor on 06/06/2022.
LINGFIELD PARK – 06/06/2022
Race 1 No1 APPIER (Nap)
Trainer: Sean Woods – Jockey: Harry Davies
Since being set stamina tests APPIER has come into his own and delivered back-to-back triumphs at Beverley. He’s on Polytrack for the first time, but if handling it has a solid chance of completing a hat-trick.
Race 4 No10 SONNETINA (Each Way)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Harry Burns
Unlocking the door to SONNETINA is proving difficult. The Poet’s Voice mare often gets into the money as has been the case in each of the three times Burns has partnered her. As long as this first run in seven months isn’t needed she can earn.
SOUTHWELL – 06/06/2022
Race 1 No4 THE VOLLAN
Trainer: Laura Morgan – Jockey: Adam Wedge
THE VOLLAN has been a regular earner since moving to the Morgan yard and now gets a chance to post a first success since last summer at a track where he’s threatened to oblige in the past. While it’s hard to put your pen through the names of any in the 6-strong field, he is dependable and can earn.
Race 2 No2 ATLANTIC STORM (Nap)
Trainer: B Summers – Jockey: Charlie Hammond
ATLANTIC STORM is deserving of a change of luck in this two mile handicap chase after back-to-back near misses. Again, it’s a race where any of the four can win, but he looks ready to pop after a good run here.
PONTEFRACT – 06/06/2022
Race1 No3 FOX DEGREE (Each Way)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Invincible Spirit filly FOX DEGREE is better drawn than those in front of her in the betting and appeals as a solid each way entity. She stayed on under an educational ride to trouble the judge on Bath debut, and if progressing from it could enjoy a kinder run than Double O or Hi Clare who are posted wide.
Race 2 No10 ROUND THE ISLAND (Nap)
Trainer: Simon Whitaker – Jockey: Phil Dennis
Course specialist ROUND THE ISLAND should be cherry ripe after an earning effort at Ripon to make this a first success for 20 months. That spell in the shade hasn’t been without narrow defeats, but the gelding needs to show he’s the force that has plundered five races at Pontefract Park.
Race 5 No7 BIT OF A QUIRKE
Trainer: Mr T Walford – Jockey: Dougie Costello
BIT OF A QUIRKE usually takes a run or two to come to hand, and if his frame finishes at Beverley and Ripon have put the edge on him he can play a big part at a venue where he’s threatened to deliver in the past.
WINDSOR – 06/06/2022
Race 2 No9 TAGLINE (Nap)
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Ross Coakley
TAGLINE should have the legs of her foes is able to reproduce the promise of her Leicester debut when she outran odds of 80-1 to chase home Union Court. The Havana Gold filly has greatly benefitted from the outing, is streetwise, and can convert.
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand
Race 6 No13 WILKINS
Special Envoy looks certain to top the market after being beaten in a photo on debut but at the respective odds WILKINS is preferred. He was backed into odds-on only to get chinned but Muhtashim at Redcar but is going to relish going an extra quarter mile and can trump the favourite.
