02/11/2021 – Tuesday’s Racing Tips

01/11/2021 - Monday's Racing Tips

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s race meetings on 02/11/2021, including Exeter which hosts the Grade 2 Haldon Gold Cup.

EXETER – 02/11/2021

Race 1: PICANHA (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Phillips – Jockey: Daniel Hiskett

Underfoot conditions should be ideal for PICANHA on his return to action and first outing over hurdles. The seven-year-old defends a one race unbeaten record after being scratched from his intended comeback contest last month. Highly regarded by his trainer, he is one to follow.

Race 3 – HALDON GOLD CUP (Grade 2):No1 GREANETEEN (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Bryony Frost

GREANETEEN can put down an early marker for the two mile chasing title in the most important race run at this track. He romped home in the corresponding race 12 months ago, finished fourth to Put The Kettle On in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and was a smooth winner of the Celebration Chase at Sandown on the final day of the 2020/21 season. With few miles on his racing clock, the seven-year-old has scope for further progression and can give short shrift to market rival Hitman.

Race 7: BEAU HAZE
Trainer: Phil Dando – Jockey: Conor Ring

When last seen in May BEAU HAZE proved almost unbeatable at Ffos Las, posting a second and back-to-back successes at that course. With his ability to run well fresh and can make them all go in this competitive finale.

LINGFIELD PARK – 02/11/2021

Race 2: RED SQUARE
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Rab Havlin

RED SQUARE returns from a five month absence with the best form, having chased home last week’s Listed scorer Sea La Rosa at Chepstow. If able to repeat that level of performance she should prove too strong for the colt Kingsofthemidlands.

Race 4: SOVEREIGN SLIPPER
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: David Probert

SOVEREIGN SLIPPER benefitted from strong handling to finally open his account at Kempton. Remaining on Polytrack, his trainer looks to have found a weak race for his attempt to follow-up.

Race 7: MOQADAMA (Nap)
Trainer: Charles Hills – Jockey: David Probert

From a good draw one off the fence MOQADAMA can boss this fillies’ maiden. The daughter of Dark Angel was no match for Thunder Power at Newcastle, but that was her best effort in three attempts, and there should be better to come.

REDCAR – 02/11/2021

Race 7: CORNERSTONE LAD (Each Way)
Trainer: Micky Hammond – Jockey: Billy Garritty

Top hurdler CORNERSTONE LAD finished fourth and won here at this time last year and makes a first appearance since getting injured in the National Spirit Trophy at Fontwell. If near to full fitness for this winnable heat he can put in an earning run.

Race 8: AL ERAYG (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: PJ McDonald

AL ERAYG indicated with his best run for a while that he’s on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle. That third to Hot Chesnut at Nottingham happened in a blanket finish, and interestingly his previous success happened at this course exactly a year ago.

NEWCASTLE – 02/11/2021

Race 3: TRAVELLER (Each Way)
Trainer: Antony Brittain – Jockey: Cam Hardie

Two recent placed efforts in blinkers give a clear indication that TRAVELLER is coming out of the wilderness. He’s got himself onto a workable mark and can take home another cheque.

Race 4: FIREBOMB (Nap)
Trainer: Bryan Smart – Jockey: Gianluca Sanna

FIREBOMB is too good a horse to remain a maiden for long, and can take out this nursery. He came back from a short break to make Le Beau Garçon pull out all the stops here in September. That was his fourth near miss, but this time he should make no mistake.
