01/11/2021 - Monday's Racing Tips

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Monday’s British race meetings at Hereford, Plumpton, Kempton & Wolverhampton on 01/11/2021.

HEREFORD – 01/11/2021

Race 3: GREAT HEART’ JAC
Trainer: F O’Brien – Jockey: P J Brennan

This should lie between the two ‘Jacks’, with GREAT HEART JAC just preferred to the Believe version. Great Heart Jac looked to have taken a move forward when second in a Chepstow bumper last month, a run that is thought to have brought him to the boil for this first outing over hurdles.

Race 7: SASHENKA (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Scudamore – Jockey: Richard Patrick

SASHENKA might to some observers have the look of a so-called perennial bridesmaid, but that would be wide of the mark considering she would have bolted up but for falling at Catterick and comes here with two very solid earning runs on the Flat at Doncaster and York behind her. The Maxios mare will love underfoot conditions, and is ready for this return to hurdles

PLUMPTON – 01/11/2021

Race 1: SHEILA NASH
Trainer: Harry Whittington – Jockey: Daryl Jacob

SHEILA NASH comes here as the preferred option from three engagements this week. Her jumping wasn’t especially slick and she might have been a gallop short when returning at Sedgefield, but she’s jumped better at home subsequently, and is certainly fitter.

Race 4: THE BOMBER LISTON (Nap)
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: James Bowen

It would be no surprise to see THE BOMBER LISTON deliver a knock-out blow to his foes on a first run in handicap company. The gelding trotted up in a maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter and looks to have done particularly well through the summer. He is going to be a danger to all, lurking as he is at the foot of the weights.

Race 7: NEVERBEEN TO PARIS (Each Way)
Trainer: Pat Murphy – Jockey: Bryony Frost

Fresh from her Down Royal triumph on Frodon, Frost can get a tune out of NEVERBEEN TO PARIS in the nightcap. The top weight should following a couple of earning runs be primed and ready to put his best foot forward.

KEMPTON PARK – 01/11/2021

Race 1: SONNETINA (Each Way)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Harry Burns

SONNETINA has hit the woodwork on three occasions this year and been a shade unfortunate not to win. A strong traveller, she chased home a handicap snip under Burns at Brighton last time, and just requires the rub of the green to post another earning run.

Race 6: HAMISH (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

It was a classic case of a horse failing to get the trip when HAMISH faltered at the end of the Group 2 Long Distance Cup at Ascot, fading into fourth behind Trueshan. Now dropped back to a mile and a half and into Listed company, the five-year-old should have no trouble outclassing his rivals.

Race 8: KALEIDOSCOPIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Egan

Although unable so far this year to add to her successes of last autumn, KALEIDOSCOPIC is a filly worth staying with on this switch onto Polytrack. The Daughter of Le Havre would have finished closer at Newbury last time had her pilot made a break for home earlier, which left her vulnerable to those with a better turn of foot at the finish. She remains on a workable mark.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 01/11/2021

Race 8: SCARBOROUGH CASTLE (nap)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

The only bet on this tricky card happens in the nightcap where SCARBOROUGH CASTLE can follow up his breakthrough win over course and distance. That came after a lay-off and there is almost certainly better to come from this late-maturing individual.
