The 15-time major winner took to social media on Tuesday night to reveal he had already gone under the knife to repair the damaged tendon.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” read Woods’ statement.

“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon. ‘The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery,’ added Dr. Stucken.

“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.”

Woods was set to feature at the upcoming Masters, which would have been his 96th major appearance.

With the recovery time for an injury of this nature in the region of six to nine months, it’s unlikely fans will see the 49-year-old at any majors in 2025. The last major Woods featured in was the 2024 Open Championship.

“I’ll play as long as I can play and I feel like I can still win the event,” he said before missing the cut at Royal Troon.

After yet another back surgery last September, he played alongside 15-year-old son Charlie in the PNC Championship family event in Florida in December.
