He is joined by Sepp Straka and twins Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard. The quartet have 21 victories between them on the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, and further strengthen the world-class field set to compete in the prestigious Rolex Series event.
They join career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy, defending champion Billy Horschel, Ryder Cup stars Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Robert MacIntyre and Justin Rose and former World Number One Adam Scott as players confirmed for the Festival of Golf, with further star names to be announced in the coming weeks.
Norwegian Hovland will be making his fifth appearance at the BMW PGA Championship, having finished fifth in his last two outings in 2022 and 2023. The 27-year-old will make a welcome return to the West Course having missed last year’s edition of the event due to a wrist injury.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Wentworth – it was disappointing to miss last year, because the event has become a real highlight of my schedule,” said Hovland.
“My last two performances were positive, so I’m hoping to back those up when I return in September.”
Straka, who is bidding for a second Ryder Cup appearance later this year at Bethpage, has won twice on the PGA TOUR this season, at The American Express and Truist Championship, both Signature Events. The Austrian finished in a share of tenth in 2023 and will be making his third appearance at Wentworth in September.
“I’m excited to return to Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship,” said Straka. “I’ve had two really good experiences of the event so far and I’m sure this year will be no different.”
The Hojgaards have had a strong summer so far, both finishing inside the Top 20 at The 153rd Open at Royal Portrush. Like Hovland, Nicolai will be making his fifth appearance at the BMW PGA Championship, with Rasmus making his sixth.
Nicolai’s last victory on the DP World Tour came hot on the heels of his 2023 Ryder Cup debut, at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, which saw him earn dual membership on the PGA TOUR.
Rasmus held off the challenge of home favourite Rory McIlroy to win his fifth DP World Tour title at last year’s Amgen Irish Open, ultimately finishing the season in second place on the Race to Dubai, joining his twin as a dual member of the PGA TOUR for 2025.
“It’ll be great to return to Wentworth later this year as part of an exciting run of events in September.” said Rasmus. “I’ve really enjoyed the week since making my first appearance there in 2020, the course is a great test and one we enjoy playing.”
Nicolai added: “The BMW PGA Championship is one of the best events of the season. The fans are fantastic and there is a great atmosphere during the whole week. I know it’s an event we all anticipate, so we’re looking forward to getting back there in a few weeks’ time.”
