The 15-time major winner has been captaining the Jupiter Links team from the sidelines, but finally got out in place of Kevin Kisner against Los Angeles in the final on Tuesday.
Unfortunately for Woods, he missed a three-foot putt that handed momentum back to LA, who went on to win the match and the TGL title.
A frustrated Woods slammed his putter into the turf at the time, but admitted it was great to be playing competitively after such a long break.
“It felt great to be back with these guys,” said the 50-year-old, who last played in early March 2025.
“Frustrated we didn’t get it done. We had opportunities. It feels good to be back. I’d like to be back in better circumstances.
“We got our ass kicked at the end. Three eagles in a row. I missed a short one to give them momentum, and we never got it back.”
Asked what the return meant for his chances at teeing off at the Masters on 9 April, he remained coy.
“This body … it doesn’t recover like it did when it was 24, 25,” he quipped.
“It doesn’t mean I’m not trying. I’ve had a couple bad injuries here over the past years that I’ve had to fight through and it’s taken some time. But I keep trying.
“I want to play. I love the tournament. I’m going to be there either way with The Loop [a short course he designed] that’s going up there, as well as the champions dinner. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll be practicing, playing at home this week and keep trying to make progress.”
