The American was one of the first of golf’s heavyweights to join the Saudi-backed league upon its formation in 2022 and went on to win five events in the series.
In that time, Koepka also added a fifth major to his storied career at the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
However, the last seasons have seen a drop in form for Koepka, who missed three cuts at the majors and finished T12 at the US Open in 2025.
In a curt statement from his representatives on Tuesday, Koepka revealed he is leaving the breakaway tour.
“Brooks Koepka will be stepping away from LIV Golf,” it read.
“He is deeply grateful to Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Scott O’Neil, and the LIV Golf leadership team, his teammates, and the fans.
“Family has always guided Brooks’ decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home. Brooks will continue to be a huge supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what’s ahead.”
Koepka is married to actress Jena Sims, and the couple have a young son together.
LIV Golf chief executive Scott O’Neil said his departure had been amicable.
“We appreciate the significant impact he has had on the game and wish him continued success, both on and off the course,” said O’Neil.
Koepka is currently eligible to play on the DP World Tour and has exemptions to compete in all the majors. However, no statement has been made about his future.
The PGA Tour chimed in with a statement of its own following the breaking news.
“Brooks Koepka is a highly accomplished professional, and we wish him and his family continued success,” it read.
“The PGA Tour continues to offer the best professional golfers the most competitive, challenging and lucrative environment in which to pursue greatness.”
