Alexander Isak is on everyone’s lips after he made it clear to the world that he wants to leave Newcastle United, and behind closed doors, a lot of promises were made but have never been fulfilled.

Isak joined the Magpies in 2022 from Real Sociedad for a club-record fee of £63 million on a long-term deal. Since being part of the Club, he has made 109 appearances, scoring 62 goals.

Isak helped Newcastle end their 70-year major domestic trophy drought when he scored that second goal that unlocked and rewrote football history for the team and club, with them winning the Carabao Cup 2-1.

A lot of football analysts have shared their opinions on the bombshell statement, including former player and now professional football manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who sat down with Sky Sports Senior Journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

“But then on the other hand, I don’t know what the boy has been promised because what he’s showing is not really in his history.

“Apparently he’s a lovely boy to deal with. So he’s been advised to do something. I think it’s the wrong way to go about it.”

The only thing that’s on Isak’s mind is jumping ship to Liverpool, as he has always had dreams of playing for the Reds.

With Newcastle rejecting Liverpool’s offer of £110 million, the 25-year-old feels like he has to pull out all the stops so that he can get his way.

But with him doing this, he might be shooting himself in the leg by destroying his career. After this saga, who would want to work with him because he might do the same thing to the club that signs him next.

In the sat down chat, Solhekol asked Hasslbaink, even if he gets his move to Liverpool, will it have been worth it doing it this way? The 53-year-old replied

“Well, apparently yes, because he’s a Liverpool fan. He wants to go to Liverpool and his not training.

“So all his actions are showing that he wants to do whatever it takes to get to Liverpool. Rightly or wrongly. No matter if we agree with it or not.”

In conclusion of the interview, Hasselbanik believes Isak should go back and serve and fulfil his end of the contract because it seems like his not going anywhere anytime soon. Newcastle still wants to keep him and to them his not worth losing.

“And that’s the part that I don’t agree with, you know. You still have got a contract. Yes, you can still say my time is up here, but you still have to go and train and be with the group and participate. I think that part is wrong.”

Liverpool has not commented on the matter at hand. We don’t know if they will go back to Newcastle United with a better offer, with them wanting nothing less than £150 million for the striker and they have two weeks to do something as the transfer window is closing on September 1.
