The 31-year-old midfielder, who has been a central figure under new manager Ruben Amorim, insists he has no plans to leave Old Trafford despite lucrative offers from Saudi sides Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad in the off-season.

Fernandes, whose contract runs until 2027 with an option for a further year, remains focused on helping United return to the Champions League.

Insiders told the BBC that reports suggesting he might depart after next year’s World Cup are “completely false”, stressing his determination to remain a cornerstone of Amorim’s rebuilding project.

Since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag last November, United have shown signs of improvement after a dismal 15th-place finish last season.

Currently 10th in the Premier League with three wins, three losses, and a draw, the club’s immediate aim is to secure European qualification and re-establish itself among the continent’s elite.

However, recent off-field uncertainty has complicated the picture. Sports official Turki Al-Sheikh posted a cryptic message hinting at possible changes to United’s ownership, sparking speculation about the Glazer family’s long-term intentions.

The Glazers retain full control and, under existing terms, can sell their entire shareholding using “drag along” rights, preventing minority investors from blocking a sale.
