Rangers are in hot water as they face UEFA wrath over supporters’ racist banner – “Keep woke foreign ideologies out, defend Europe”

UEFA has given the Rangers a rope to hang themselves if they can’t control their fan base after supporters displayed a “racist and discriminatory banner“, written: “Keep woke foreign ideologies out. Defend Europe“ in a Europa League match against Fenerbahce at Ibrox.

If this offence repeats within two years, the stadium will be shut down for one game. The Gers have also been asked to pay a fine of 25,000 pounds, including 23,000  pounds for throwing objects, blocking passageways, and improper conduct of the team.

The Club also released a statement stating they will be investigating the issue at hand, and they are manhunting for the perpetrators who were responsible for that banner.

In response to the display of the racist and/or discriminatory banner at the Fenerbahce game, the club can confirm that it is in the process of issuing lifetime bans to the individuals responsible. It seems like the Rangers will never find themselves on the good side of the law.

In February, they were charged by the SPFL over the disrupted use of flares. 500 tickets were ordered to be removed, the SPFL said, “suspended sanction of a reduction of 800 tickets for a future Premier Sports Cup match to be played at Hampden Park will be imposed in the event of another breach of SPFL Rule H34 through pyrotechnic use by supporters of the club in any SPFL competition before 30 March 2027″.

Another offence out of many was back in 2011 when Rangers were found guilty of “discriminatory behaviour by their supporters” and were banned for two European matches away. They were fined 35,558 pounds by UEFA’s control and disciplinary body due to the hooliganism caused by fans in an away fixture.

The Rangers’ next match will be on April 10 against Athletic Club in the Europa League. Strict measures will be taken as to avoid any offences to be committed.

“We reiterate our call for all supporters to back the team in the correct manner, and to challenge those who seek to further damage the good name of Rangers,” reads the statement.
