It’s rumored that Paul Pogba will sign a two-year deal, and he reportedly made significant financial sacrifices to finalise the agreement and return to competitive football after his contract with Juventus was terminated in 2024.

In 2013, the 32-year-old tested positive for Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a banned substance that can increase testosterone levels, following Juventus’s 3-0 league victory on August 20. A B sample later confirmed the positive result in October.

The Italian anti-doping tribunal handed him a four-year ban, but after he appealed, his ban was reduced to 18 months. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Pogba had inadvertently consumed DHEA and noted that the substance only enhances performance in females.

The French football star posted on Instagram, where he expressed, he was shocked by the outcome of the results and maintained his innocence .

“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.

“When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.

“As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against. As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the court of arbitration for sport.”

Pogba recently made his comeback in March and was linked with a third spell at Manchester United. But AS Monaco beat them to the chase and might get his signature as a free agent first . If everything goes well he could be in action in the Champions League next season, as Monaco finished third in the 2024–2025 Ligue 1 season.
