Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have re-established themselves as consistent title contenders, yet the ultimate prize has remained elusive.

The club have finished as runners-up for the past three seasons, narrowly losing out to Manchester City in both 2022-23 and 2023-24 before falling 10 points short of Liverpool last term.

Despite the progress made under Arteta, Arsenal’s supporters continue to wait for a return to glory. The north London side have not lifted the Premier League trophy since the famous “Invincibles” season of 2003-04, while their last major triumph came with the FA Cup in 2020.

Saliba, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s standout centre-backs, insists he is determined to play his part in ending that barren run.

“Of course we’ve finished second for three years in a row, and we know that we always miss something,” the Arsenal defender said.

“Now it’s a new season, we have to see what we didn’t do well enough to win the league.

“We won the first game, and of course, we want to win the league, and we will give everything. We have to try to be even better than the last three seasons to win this league.

“We know that the new players came to help us, and I’m sure that they will help us to win some trophies. Of course, we are already better with them. Let’s see.”
