Tottenham have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge following Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United.
The result left Spurs 16th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone, and extended their winless league run to eight matches – their longest since 2008. Tottenham have won just two of their past 17 league games.
Confirming the decision, Spurs said: “The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.
“Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in June 2025 and leaves with 13 wins from 38 matches, the lowest Premier League win percentage of any Spurs manager. Despite guiding Tottenham into the Champions League last 16, they were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Newcastle and the FA Cup by Aston Villa.
Fan unrest intensified in recent weeks, with supporters chanting “you’re getting sacked in the morning” during poor results. Captain Cristian Romero also criticised the club’s hierarchy, describing the squad situation as “disgraceful” after injuries left Tottenham short of senior players.
Tottenham have yet to confirm a permanent replacement, with an interim appointment expected as they prepare for a north London derby against Arsenal later this month.
