The Uruguayan striker has scored just once in his last 13 matches across all competitions, with his missed penalty in Liverpool’s recent Champions League round-of-16 shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month only adding to his frustration.

Nunez’s difficulties have come at a time when Liverpool’s overall form has also been underwhelming, with a loss to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final and an early FA Cup exit at the hands of Plymouth Argyle.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Nunez reflected, “It’s been a tough few weeks for me personally. These are the challenges you encounter in football. I’m not the kind of player who gives up just because things aren’t going my way. I will continue fighting to make sure I play in every match.”

“I know I haven’t been playing to the level I’m capable of.”

“It’s difficult because when things are going well, your confidence increases, but when you’re not involved in the next game, it can bring you down. Still, I always make sure to train hard and assist my teammates however possible. That’s what truly matters.”

“The ball just won’t go in. I’m giving it my all, playing well, but the goals aren’t coming. It’s just bad luck.”
