Harry Kane says that if Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga by April they won’t lose momentum, insisting the squad’s mentality would not change.
Bayern could seal the championship as early as March or April, but Kane said the focus remained on maintaining intensity in every match, regardless of the league situation.
“I wouldn’t complain if we won the title in March or April,” Kane told Bild. “With our current mindset, it wouldn’t matter. We would just keep playing the way we always have.”
The England captain explained that Kompany’s message had been clear from the very start, highlighting a ruthless approach that has shaped Bayern’s performances this season.
“I remember my first phone call with the coach when he took over,” Kane said. “He told me we would be merciless with all our opponents. If we’re one goal ahead, we go for the second. If we’re three ahead, we go for the fourth. That’s the mentality he brought here.”
Kane added that the same standards were evident every day at the training ground, with strong competition pushing players to perform at their highest level.
“It’s already clear in the way we train,” he said. “There’s real competition, and we take that onto the pitch in the games.”
Bayern’s mindset was underlined in their most recent Bundesliga outing, a dominant 5-1 comeback win over RB Leipzig on Saturday. Goals came from five different players, with Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane, Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Michael Olise all finding the net. Leipzig’s only goal was scored by Romulo.
That result left Bayern top of the Bundesliga table, sitting 11 points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund. With performances and results matching Kompany’s aggressive philosophy, Kane believes Bayern are well equipped to keep their edge, no matter how early the title race is decided.
