Alvarez, aged 25, was sold for 81 million pounds after two successful seasons at the Etihad, where he helped secure two Premier League titles and a Treble.

However, despite his contributions, Alvarez often found himself in wide, bench, or deeper roles under manager Pep Guardiola, with the manager focusing on accommodating Erling Haaland.

Seeking more playing time, Alvarez made the move to Atletico Madrid, where he has become a key figure in their attacking setup.

“I miss him a lot because he is an exceptional team-mate and I am very fond of him,” said Silva.

“I am very happy that he is doing well. He is a wonderful guy, and he deserves everything.

“Whenever I see Julián score a goal, I’m very happy for him; he’s doing very well. Atlético de Madrid is having a very good season. I am very happy for him.”

Since his departure, City has struggled in the forward areas, prompting the club to make signings like Savinho and Omar Marmoush to strengthen their attack.

Silva, a veteran attacking midfielder for the club, admitted that Alvarez’s exit has left a significant gap in both his playing ability and personality within the dressing room.
