Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has vowed that the club will continue to push for silverware after finishing second in the EPL, well adrift of champions Liverpool.
It marks the third consecutive campaign in which the Gunners have narrowly missed out on the title.
In the previous two seasons, Arsenal had pushed Manchester City close, but this year they were unable to keep pace with a dominant Liverpool side.
The north London club’s last major trophy came in 2020, when they lifted the FA Cup.
Arteta, who took charge in 2019, has overseen a dramatic turnaround in Arsenal’s fortunes, re-establishing them as genuine contenders at the top of English football. However, the league title remains elusive under his tenure.
Despite the disappointment, the Spaniard remains upbeat about the club’s trajectory.
“We had a dream, it was to be here or in a week’s time and bring the big trophies to you guys and we couldn’t do it for many circumstances,” said Arteta.
“We need to make sure that chasing a dream doesn’t get blurry and make sure we chase the dream with positivity and enthusiasm for next season.
“We have to start creating our own history here in this stadium and we started this season. There is much more to come and it won’t be easy. These players have the talent.
“We need to rest and finish at Southampton and then go on holiday. Any other club in this position would finish in a position that we cannot even dream of.”
