Erling Haaland is back on the list as he was forced off the field in the 61st minute due to an ankle injury that he sustained during a challenge with midfielder Lewis Cook.

The 24-year-old delivered an outstanding performance in the first half as he managed to score an equaliser, he was later replaced by Omar Marmoush, who scored a second goal, securing a 2-1 win at the Vitality Stadium.

After the match, a video of Haaland entering the city bus, walking on crutches, and wearing a protective boot on his left leg circulated on social media, with fans claiming the team is “doomed” as it looks like the Norwegian star will be out for quite a while.

Haaland was assigned on Monday before being referred to a specialist. City will brief the media on Tuesday after the specialist has seen Haaland’s condition.

The club also released a statement earlier on and it reads:

Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has suffered an injury to his left ankle. Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury.

Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup. Everyone at the club wishes Erling a speedy recovery

This season, the young man has recorded 30 goals in 40 games, including four assists. Manager Pep Guardiola has had to deal with most of his key players being injured throughout this season.

Haaland now joins Rodri, Nathan Ake, John Stones, and Manuel Akanji on the road to recovery.

The FA Cup is the only competition left that gives City hope to lift a trophy if they manage pull out an outstanding performance. The Citizens are in fifth place in the Premier League log table, and right now they are aiming to finish in the top 4 with nine games remaining.

Guardiola’s side got knocked out of the Champions League early in the tournament and the Carabao Cup. Manchester City’s next FA Cup semi-final match will be on April 26 against Nottingham Forest at Wembley Stadium.
