What’s frustrating the fans is that since Todd Boehly took over Chelsea in 2022 the club has yet to find success, even when they have spent £ 1 billion on transfer fees in the last two and a half years. The major trophy Chelsea last lifted was the Champions League trophy back in 2021 when they defeated Manchester City by 1-0. They have been moving up and down in the Premier League log table for the past 8 years failing to secure first place and lifting the League trophy. They last tasted the fruits of being Premier League Champions in the 2016/2017 season under Antonio Conte.

Sky sports Senior journalist Kaveh Solhekol attended the Financial Times Business of Football Summit, where Boehly reassured that Chelsea is “Moving in the right direction”. He also hashed down reports that were spreading earlier this season that there was a power struggle between him (who owns a 38.5 % stake) and Clear Lake Capital holding the majority (61.5 %) shareholder. It was rumored that both parties were open to buying each other out but that was never confirmed or denied.

Reporting on what Todd Boehly said in the summit Kaveh Solhekol added “He didn’t want to comment on that because he had learned in the past 3 years that the British media are prone to exaggerate things and also to leave something out “
Another question was asked if in a year, he thinks the same owners would oversee Chelsea as the ownership group who are running the club now. Boehly said  “I can’t predict the future and if I could, I wouldn’t be here talking to you “

The previous Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich who bought the club in 2003 was forced to sell the club to a US-based consortium headed by Todd Boehly under sanctions. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as part of the deal.
