Manchester City could be facing a significant challenge at the end of the season if they fail to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Reports suggest that Erling Haaland, who signed a contract extension until 2034, has clauses in his deal that allow him to leave the club under certain conditions, including missing out on Europe’s elite competition.
Haaland, who has been directly involved in 131 goals over as many games for City, had his contract terms negotiated to ensure he continues to play at the highest level.
According to El Nacional, there are specific clauses that could facilitate his exit if City do not qualify for the Champions League next season. This scenario has been described as a ‘crisis’ by the report, a sentiment many would echo given Haaland’s impact on the team.
