Sunday’s FA Cup failure at home agaisnt Fulham is the 10th defeat in 24 games under manager Ruben Amorim. The 40-year-old told the media during the post-match interview that all hope is not lost, and his goal is to still win the Premier League “Our goal is to win the Premier League. Maybe it’s not with me. But our goal as a club, the board, is winning the Premier League like we did in the past.”

This is referring to the reports that were circulating, according to  The Times,  Sir David Brailsford the Director of Sport at INEOS unveiled his ‘Mission 21 plan’ which aims to deliver United’s 21st English league title. He is also committed to being fully involved in the club’s performance alongside his right-hand man Jason Wilcox.

Manchester United’ all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney believes the Red Devils have a long way to go and they can’t talk about winning the league while they are in 14th place in the table. “I think it’s a little naive to say they’re looking to win the Premier League because from where they are now. They’re a long way off that. He says winning the Premier League, how can they compete? To get further up the table, I think that’s the next step for them.”

Amorim has since responded to Rooney’s comment by saying “Being naïve is to think that we are going to do so this season or are going to be the best contender for the next season. So, I know at this moment everybody knows everything”

Manchester United last won the league in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson. Since then the club has had 10 different managers. With Amorim recently being hired in November, he replaced Erik ten Hag who was sacked after a poor start of the season.
