Potter, who was appointed Chelsea’s head coach in September 2022, replaced Thomas Tuchel but struggled to turn the team’s fortunes around, eventually being dismissed after just seven months. Despite the disappointment of his time at Stamford Bridge, Potter is now able to see the positives, viewing the experience as an opportunity for growth.

“In football, there are always ups and downs,” Potter said. “I didn’t want to lose my job, but when I look back, I can see it was probably the best thing for me. I’ve learned so much, and I think the next 10 or 20 years of my career will be better because of that experience.”

Potter made it clear that he bears no ill will toward Chelsea and continues to have strong relationships with people at the club. “I’ve got nothing but good feelings towards Chelsea,” he added. “It’s a part of my journey, and I’m grateful for the relationships I still have there.”

After his time at Chelsea, Potter was appointed as West Ham’s manager in January, taking over from Julen Lopetegui. Since his arrival, West Ham has shown mixed form, securing four points from their first three matches—winning against Fulham, losing to Crystal Palace, and drawing with Aston Villa.

Potter, however, remains focused on the future. “I’m really excited about the journey I’m on with West Ham,” he said. “It’s a great club, and I’m looking forward to building something special with the team and connecting with the fans. We’re focused on creating something we can all be proud of.”

West Ham currently sits in 14th place in the Premier League with 27 points, while Chelsea, despite a rough patch, is in 6th. Potter’s optimistic outlook and focus on development signal a new chapter in his managerial career as he looks to build a lasting legacy at West Ham.
