The Scotsman, in his second stint at Goodison Park, has already had an immediate impact, overseeing a remarkable turnaround in form.

Everton are currently on a nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, a streak that has propelled them 17 points clear of the relegation zone.

For the first time in four seasons, the Toffees are not facing a serious battle to stay up. With nine fixtures remaining, Moyes is focused on finishing the season strongly before embarking on a crucial summer rebuild.

His aim is clear: to restore Everton to the level they enjoyed during his first tenure, when the club regularly challenged for European places and even flirted with the top four.

The former Manchester United and West Ham boss is determined to strengthen the squad with players capable of pushing the team further up the table.

“I’m really enjoying being back. Obviously, you can tell when football managers enjoy it because they’re winning. That’s the big thing. If I wasn’t then I might have been thinking different,” said Moyes.

“Generally, I think there’s so many things which are good, but I think there’s so many things that we’re willing to try and improve again. We want to get back to where we were, if we can. I want to get back to at least the levels we were at when I was here before.

“That’s the first thing. So I’m trying to get us back where we’re competitive and in a better condition if we can, but it’ll not be easy. There’s a lot of things to do, recruitment and whatnot will be a big issue during the summer.”
