It looks like Alexander Isak could be approaching a happy ending in his transfer saga, as Newcastle United has reopened negotiations with Liverpool.
The Reds are keen to secure the striker’s signature, and the Magpies have set a valuation of around £160 million for the 25-year-old.
Liverpool, on the other hand, initially offered £110 million, an offer that was rejected by Newcastle.
Newcastle United still stand by their decision that Isak can only leave if they secure a suitable replacement first. It appears that Nick Woltemade could be the key to unlocking Isak’s exit.
Woltemade has arrived at St. James Park to undergo his medical, signaling that Newcastle is moving forward with their plans to bring in fresh talent before allowing Isak to depart.
The Magpies have agreed to pay a reported £64.86 million plus £4.3 million in add-ons for Nick Woltemade. Since joining Bayer Leverkusen in January 2023, Woltemade has made 47 appearances and has scored 6 goals for the club.
During the pre-match interview for Sunday’s match against Arsenal , Arne Slot was asked about Isak ,” If it’s true, Newcastle have signed a new No 9 and that’s very nice for Eddie because Anthony Gordon is suspended and Isak has not been training.
“As always, we try to sign players who can help us. There’s no reason, after the first two games, to complain, to think we need more. But if we can strengthen the squad, we will try to do that if it’s for the right money and the right player.
“Let’s see if we do something and if we can, what we can do.”
Newcastle United and Liverpool have 3 days to conclude the deal as the transfer window closes on September 1.
