The 31-year-old Danish midfielder has completed his medical, with an announcement expected this week.

Norgaard, a proven Premier League performer, made 196 appearances for Brentford since joining from Fiorentina in 2019. His time with the Bees included a standout moment when he scored his first Premier League goal in a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the opening match of the 2021-22 season.

Named Brentford’s captain for the 2022-23 campaign, Norgaard played a key role in their promotion to the top flight in 2021 after a near miss in the 2020 Championship play-off final.

Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, expressed mixed emotions about Norgaard’s departure but backed the move. “Arsenal approached us regularly about Christian in the last two weeks through Andrea Berta,” Giles told Sky Sports.

“He’s been a fantastic player for us, unbelievable. I’m happy for him to have the opportunity at 31 to go and try to win trophies. We’re aware that if he departs, we have a leadership void to fill, especially with Ben Mee and Mark Flekken also leaving this summer.”

Arsenal’s transfer business shows no signs of slowing down. Having already signed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielder Martin Zubimendi, the Gunners are prioritizing a new striker.

Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres remains their top target, with The Athletic reporting that negotiations are “advanced” and all parties are “optimistic” about finalizing a deal. While RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko has also been linked, Arsenal’s focus on Gyokeres suggests a shift away from the Slovenian forward.

In another bold move, Arsenal are pursuing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, continuing their trend of raiding their London rivals. The Gunners have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old, though a club-to-club agreement with Chelsea is yet to be reached.

Madueke, currently with Chelsea at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, has been backed by his manager Enzo Maresca to stay focused despite transfer speculation. “We had the same noise before the Palmeiras game, and Noni was very good,” Maresca said. “I don’t doubt that if we need him, he’ll help us.”

Recent updates on X from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirm the deal’s progress, stating, “Christian Norgaard to Arsenal, here we go! Agreement done for 11 million euros with medical set.”

Arsenal’s proactive approach in the market underscores their ambition to challenge for the Premier League title, with Norgaard’s experience and leadership poised to add steel to their midfield.

For fans eager to follow Arsenal’s transfer activity, the addition of Norgaard signals a clear intent to blend experience with youth as Arteta builds a squad capable of competing on all fronts. With Gyokeres and Madueke potentially following, the Gunners are shaping up for an exciting 2025-26 campaign.
