Despite speculation about the Dutch driver’s future, Ford have emphasized that their long-term partnership with Red Bull remains robust, regardless of individual personnel changes.

Verstappen, contracted until 2028, has been at the center of rumors linking him to Mercedes and Aston Martin. These speculations have intensified due to Red Bull’s recent performance dip and whispers of a performance clause in his contract.

However, Ford, who are collaborating with Red Bull to develop a new power unit for the 2026 season, have made it clear that their project is not tied to any single individual.

“We race to win with the best teams, drivers, and people,” said Mark Rushbrook, Ford’s CEO, in an interview with Motorsport.com. “But our decision to partner with Red Bull wasn’t based on one person. This is a long-term commitment, and we knew changes could happen, whether with Christian Horner, Adrian Newey, or the drivers.

“Some of those changes have already occurred before we even hit the track.”

The 2026 season marks a new era for Formula 1, with overhauled technical regulations and Red Bull’s first venture into building their own power unit. Ford’s return to the sport after more than 20 years underscores their confidence in Red Bull’s vision, even as key figures like Newey have departed.

While Ford are eager to retain Verstappen, a four-time world champion, they are prepared for any outcome. “Do we want Max to stay with Red Bull and Ford for 2026 and beyond? Absolutely,” Rushbrook added.

“He’s elevated the team to new heights. But will we walk away if he leaves? No. Our commitment stands.”

The Formula 1 season continues with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix on May 18, 2025, where teams will battle over 63 laps at the iconic 4.909-kilometer Imola circuit. Fans are eager to see how Red Bull respond on track amid the ongoing speculation.
