Golden Goals: Two Hollywoodbets donations to Brentford FC Community Sports Trust amount to £4,500

Golden Goals November – December 2020

With Brentford scoring 20 goals in their last 13 games of 2020, Official Betting Partner Hollywoodbets’ Golden Goals scheme has resulted in a donation of £2,000 to Brentford FC Community Sports Trust as a part of their commitment to community development with the club.

Hollywoodbets pledged £100 for every goal scored from the beginning of its sponsorship of the Club in early November, to the end of December 2020. What ensued was a 13-match unbeaten run, with The Bees slotting home 20 goals in the process.

“From the beginning of our sponsorship, getting involved in community projects was always top of our agenda,” said Hollywoodbets Brand and Communications Manager, Devin Heffer.

“Brentford has always set itself as a community-led football club, and this fits in perfectly with the culture of Hollywoodbets. Part of our core values is Ubuntu, which is a Zulu term directly translated as ‘I am because, we are’ and more commonly as ‘humanity towards others’. We are because of our communities, and by investing back into those communities, we can pay it forward and make a positive change.

“We hope this donation will make a difference, and we look forward to getting involved in more Brentford FC Community Sports Trust initiatives in the coming months.”

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate, motivate and inspire people from all backgrounds. The Trust offers a portfolio of programmes in education, employability, sports participation, health and community engagement.

Lee Doyle, Chief Executive of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, commented: “At a time when it is more important than ever that everybody pulls together to make a difference, we are working with the Club’s partners to invest back into our local communities. Unrestricted income such as this enables us to create bespoke programmes for specific identified needs.”

Golden Goals returns: May 2021

The Golden Goals initiative was re-introduced in May, this time with an increased pledge of £250 per goal, for Brentford FC’s Championship Playoff run as the Bees secured top-flight football for the first time in 74 years.

Brentford were kept out in their semi-final first leg against Bournemouth who took a 1-0 lead to the Brentford Community Stadium. The second leg got off to a nervous start with Bournemouth doubling their lead after just five minutes.

However, a sublime turnaround was completed by Marcus Forss with just nine minutes remaining in the tie, and Brentford progressed to the the Championship Playoff Final after defeating the Cherries 3-2 on aggregate.

A resounding 2-0 win over Swansea in the final ensured that the Bees will play Premier League football in the 2021/22 campaign.

Their tally of five goals across the three playoff games would have secured £1,250. But we felt their historic promotion deserved something extra and decided to double our donation to £2,500!
