Irish Horse Welfare Trust Donations

2020 Q4 – 1st of 3 donations to the Irish Horse Welfare Trust

We’re happy to announce three donations to the Irish Horse Welfare Trust, with the first of those in the sum of €3,195.

The Irish Horse Welfare Trust, or IHWT, was established in 1999 and formally set up in 2001 to help the plight of neglected horses in Ireland and is the country’s largest dedicated equine charity.

Sharon Power, co-founder, said that the money would partly be used to help feed a stock of 70 horses currently being kept in a centre dedicated to dealing with the rehabilitation and re-homing of equines.

Funds were raised via the Punters Challenge competitions of November and December 2020, coming from customers who opted to donate and Hollywoodbets staff whose winnings were dedicated to the charity.

The free-to-play competition requires entrants to predict winners over race cards across various tracks, with the top select few at each meeting sharing a prize pool.

A big thank you to Dundalk Stadium’s staff, supporters and the Amber Gaming Team who showed great support for the initiative throughout.

2021 Q1 – 2nd of 3 Donations to the Irish Horse Welfare Trust

Hollywoodbets, with the help of all our players, team members, Amber Gaming and Dundalk Stadium has raised another €4,255 for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust from our Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge.

James Griffin, rep for Hollywoodbets, was happy to hand over the check for the amount to Sharon Power, co-founder and CEO of IHWT. With a guest appearance from the Irish Grand National Winner Freewheelin Dylan to oversee the hand over.

Set up 20 years ago to help Irish neglected horses and donkeys, 2020 and 2021 has been tough for the charity as Covid restrictions has reduced their fundraising opportunities.

The funds were raised during the first 3 months in 2021, with players joining for the races at Dundalk Stadium, including the Listed Patton Stakes race and the inaugural Winter Series awards event. For the first time we also included the Cheltenham Festival, across all 4 days of the event.

2021 Q3 – 3rd of 3 donations to the Irish Horse Welfare Trust

A further €1,570 was donated to the Irish Horse Welfare Trust with the funds again being raised through the Punters Challenge.

Sharon Power said “Thank you all so much and thank you to all the donors. This fundraising initiative has been a huge help to us throughout the pandemic when other fundraising could not take place so please know how much it is appreciated.”
