Race 7

IN SECRET can boast a record of four wins and two second place finishes from six runs to date, winning two of her last three outings, the latest in a Group 1 event over six furlongs by two lengths. She jumped awkwardly that day and was crowded at the 1000M mark but kicked clear at the 150M pole to win going away. She gets a handy draw three and looks to be the one to side with here. She does return from a 15-week rest but has had the benefit of two barrier trials.

SUNSHINE IN PARIS is another who has won two of her last three outings, the latest over six furlongs by two lengths, this despite racing three wide without cover and being bumped at the 350M mark. She has cracked pole position and has finished fourth in a subsequent barrier trial.

FIREBURN has her first run after a longer 19-week break and has finished second in her only barrier trial. She finished fourth last time out over a mile, just under four and a half lengths behind the winner, but that was in a Group 1 race in heavy going where her jockey felt that there was something amiss and did not persevere with his ride over the closing 100M. She faces a wide draw ten, but she should not be easily dismissed.

Race 8

ANAMOE won the Cox Plate in his penultimate run and then finished fourth last time out in the Group 1 Champions Stake over ten furlongs, two lengths behind the victor and was immediately rested for 14 weeks. He resumes here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest and notwithstanding a widish gate eight, he is made the best bet on the card and to give trainer James Cummings the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot.

EL BODEGON finished third to the top choice in the Cox Plate last time out, just over a half-length back, after being slow away. He returns from a slightly longer 16-week break but has had the two barrier trials to showcase his well-being. From draw five, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

MO’UNGA finished fifth in the Cox Plate, just over two lengths off the winner and then ended up in second place in the Champions Stakes, just under a half-length behind the winner. He came wide approaching the home turn and was hampered at the 100M which resulted in him being promoted from third to second place after a successful objection. He returns from a 14 week break but has had two barrier trials and will have to negotiate a wide draw eleven, but he should still be involved in the finish.

Race 9

NORWEGIAN BLISS missed out on her hat-trick after victories over 1300M and six furlongs when finishing second in a Group 3 event over seven furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner. She finished her race off well after coming four wide into the home straight that day and whilst returning from an 11-week rest, she did win her only barrier trial. She will have to overcome a wide gate eleven, but she will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

SWATS THAT was slow away and was held up until the 150M mark before delivering a powerful finish to end up in eighth spot last time out over 1300M, just over four lengths back from the winner, so that effort is best ignored. She jumps from gate seven and will have her first run after a 13-week spell, but she did win her only barrier trial.

WRITTEN BEAUTY jumped awkwardly and hung in throughout when finishing eleventh in her latest outing over 1100M, four and a half lengths behind the victor. She returns from a 15-week rest without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust and faces a wide draw ten, but nevertheless she should be included in all bets.

Race 10

The day’s value bet, THINK ABOUT IT goes for his hat-trick after wins over six furlongs and the latest over 1300M, albeit by just a head, but he raced in tight quarters shortly after the start in that contest and came three wide into the home stretch, before finishing off his race well. The gelding will have to deal with a wide gate twelve but will have his peak run after returning from a 19-week spell.

WATERFORD has won two of his last three starts, the latest over 1500M by 1.3L, this after being slow away and hanging in all the way down the home straight. He returns from a 15-week absence but has finished second in his only barrier trial and from a kinder draw two, he should keep the former honest.

VRENELI was bumped at the start but made good late progress when missing out on his hat-trick last time out over seven furlongs, finishing second, just a neck behind the winner. The gelding has pulled gate five and could complete the trifecta.
