Paddy "The Baddy” Pimblett will take on Jared Gordon in the co-main event of UFC 282 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday (11 December 2022) at 03h00 GMT
The Merseyside fan favorite is widely considered as one of the biggest up-and-coming names in mixed martial arts ever since his arrival, last year. On his stunning UFC debut, the Englishman knocked out Luigi Vendramini during the first round of their bout back in September 2021 – a feat which earned him the ‘Performance of the Night’ award.
Following that spectacle, Donald Cerrone and Jared Gordon were touted to be his next opponents, but it was Rodrigo Vargas who squared off with Pimblett. In similar fashion, Paddy stole the show and won that fight via submission in the opening round!
That victory certainly announced him as a force to be reckoned with in the lightweight division, with a consecutive ‘Performance of the Night’ award. The future is certainly looking bright.
Pimblett, still just 27, bided his time in Cage Warriors and turned down the UFC before he felt ready to step into the mix with the leading MMA organization. In his most recent fight in July 2022, the UFC star made light work of Jordan Leavitt, winning by submission from a rear naked chokehold in the second round.
His opposition in the octagon this weekend, Jared Gordon, beat Leonardo Santos and will be looking to add Pimblett’s name to his CV. Paddy Pimblett heads into UFC Las Vegas on the back of three straight victories in his three appearances in the UFC thus far and may very well make it four in a row. Undoubtedly, his fight with Gordon will be earmarked by fans the world over to tune in for, with the Las Vegas card looking the part!
