Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte Preview

Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte Preview by Patchy O'Connell

Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte – Brendan ‘Patchy’ O’Connell previews the biggest fight of the year so far. Check out his tip for the heavyweight clash.

It’s show time once again this Saturday evening and we’re being treated to Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte, with the latter defending his WBC heavyweight title in frontt of what is expected to be a 94,000 capacity crowd at Wembley.

The event will be broadcast on BT Sport Box Office and the total purse for both fighters is a handsome £30 Million, split approx. £24.5 to £5.5 million each, with Fury securing the bulk of proceedings.

I looked at the undercard this morning and agree with the general sentiment that it’s quite a poor line-up considering the importance of the main event.

One of the better fights on the programme though was Anthony Cacace vs Jonathan Romero in the super featherweight category, but that has been cancelled leaving the Belfast boxer “heartbroken”.

We’re left with Tommy Fury fighting a journeyman from Poland and heavyweight David Adeleye up against a bloke with a 9/8 record from Lancashire.

I will, though, keep an eye on Kurt Walker who takes to the ring in just his second professional bout at super featherweight. As a former multiple medallist in the amateur ranks, he has some potential to make a name for himself.

Tales of the Tape – Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte

Both fighters are the same age of 33 and both fight out of the orthodox stance. Fury’s reach is at 85’ compared to Whyte’s 78’. Fury’s record reads 31 fights, one draw and 22 KOs, whilst Whyte’s reads 28 fights, two losses and 19 KOs.

Betting Angle – Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte

One could spend hours going through all the forecasts and predictions, whether it’s on YouTube or other media platforms and still come no closer to a true or accurate projection.

Fury was available to win at a best price of 1/4 at one point but that has vanished and now is a best 1/6 in most places – check out Hollywoodbets for the latest.

Hollywoodbets is offering two excellent specials; Fury to win between rounds 1-6 now 5/1 from 7/2, and Dillian Whyte to win by KO, TKO or DQ now 6/1 from 9/2. Max stake rules apply.

Of those two offers I’d side with the Tyson Fury Group Rounds 1-6 special, but both represent great value compared to other bookmakers.

However, after reviewing my thoughts and feel for the bout, I’ve come to the conclusion that’ll I’ll be swimming against the tide slightly.

I think this fight has a fair chance of going the 12 rounds.

But, my main bet is on the bout exceeding 8.5 rounds for 5 Units at 10/11. My thinking is that Fury will find Whyte more difficult than expected and at the same time, will have to watch the punching power his opponent possesses. So, a more conservative approach is my overall angle.

The other bets I’ll take a share of are twofold; 1.5 Units Fury rounds 7-9 @ 7/2 and 1 Unit on Fury rounds 10-12 at 5/1.

In summary, I feel Fury could underestimate Whyte and, though I feel Fury is a wonderful boxer, I’m predicting he’ll take some time to wear down his compatriot and should be able to tag Whyte in the latter rounds when the Dillian is forced to go for broke.
