Kane played a key role in Bayern’s performance, scoring from the penalty spot in the second half after helping set up the German champions’ other goal. Despite his contribution, Bayern had to settle for a point against their Premier League opponents.

The England captain was pleased with his team’s display but admitted that a late drop in intensity prevented them from securing victory.

“It was a good performance, with really good intensity from our team. Sadly, our form dropped off in the last 15 minutes, and it was probably a fair draw. We take the point and move on,” Kane said.

Bayern were without several key players, but Kane stressed that small details often determine the outcome of matches at this level.

“At this stage, with the games we’re playing, it’s about details, and we didn’t get enough things right to win,” he added.

Kane’s creativity was evident when he produced an excellent pass to send Alphonso Davies through to score. The striker explained that the Canadian’s pace allowed him to operate in a deeper position and influence the game with his passing.

The Bayern forward was also asked about former Germany captain Michael Ballack’s suggestion that he could be the favourite for Monday’s Ballon d’Or award.

“I hope Michael Ballack knows something I don’t,” Kane joked. “I think I had a great year, and I would be really happy to receive such an award.”

Kompany was equally supportive, arguing that Kane’s performances, professionalism and commitment would make him a worthy recipient of football’s most prestigious individual honour.

“If Harry Kane could finish his career with an award like the Ballon d’Or, that would be incredibly deserved,” the Bayern coach said.

Bayern must now turn their attention to domestic competition, with Freiburg next on their schedule.
