Swiatek’s 2026 season was filled with highs and lows as she faced tough competition and struggled with injuries. She competed in major tournaments, including the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, but suffered disappointing defeats, including early exits at the French Open and US Open.

Her season was also affected by physical problems. She was forced to retire during her match against Ann Li at the Madrid Open and later struggled with a left thigh injury. The injury eventually forced her to withdraw from the Ningbo Open.

The 25-year-old has briefed the media on her health and reflections on a challenging 2026 season. “The past few months, or actually the past couple of years, have been incredibly intense.

“The past few months, or actually the past couple of years, have been incredibly intense,” said Swiatek, who will have an opportunity to complete the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January.

“I feel I need to rest and recover my body fully, so that’s exactly what I will do – [for] a bit longer this time.

“I’m especially proud of the work we’ve done in the second half of the year and the progress that came with it. It gives me a lot of confidence in what’s ahead.”

The 2026 WTA Finals will take place from November 8 to 15 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, USA. Seven players who have officially qualified are defending champion Elena Rybakina, who will be looking to retain her crown, Aryna Sabalenka, who finished as runner-up in 2025, Mirra Andreeva, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina and Linda Noskova.
