In 2024, Infantino reported a salary of £3.88 million. But US tax filings show that he also received £1.3 million from FWC2026, the company set up to organise and run this summer’s World Cup. This additional payment was not disclosed in FIFA’s annual report.

Article 43, paragraph 13 of FIFA’s statutes clearly states, “The individual compensation of the FIFA president, the members of the council and the FIFA secretary general shall be made public.”

When FIFA was called for a comment, the organization said, “The FIFA president’s annual compensation, as well as other contractual benefits, are decided by the FIFA compensation sub-committee.

“FIFA contributes to social charges, pension fund, and other contractual employee benefits for the president, as mentioned in the FIFA annual report. These benefits are reported to the US authorities in line with reporting requirements.”

Infantino has been re-elected as FIFA president twice, in 2019 and 2023, after first taking office in 2016. FIFA rules say that a president cannot serve more than three terms. Infantino is being allowed to stand for another term in the March 2027 election.

FIFA believes his first term, from 2016 to 2019, should not count towards the three-term limit because he took over before the end of his predecessor’s term. This means he could be elected for a fourth time and remain FIFA president until 2031.
