NOTTINGHAM

Race 2 No3 NIGHTSINWHITESATIN (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

It might be best to forgive NIGHTSINWHITESATIN an underwhelming effort at Newbury when she was a well beaten favourite, as her previous form stands up to close scrutiny. She’s finished second in four of seven outings this year and the application of a first time visor could make the difference.

Race 5 No8 TAMZAN (Nap)
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Ashley Lewis

One of the best bets of the day is TAMZAN who is a credit to her trainer. The Time Test filly is a two times scorer in 2026 and might have prevailed at Leicester last time when coming from well off the pace. A 2lb rise for getting beaten hardly seems fair, but she is popping her corks for today’s task and can regain the winning thread.

Race 7 No6 PORTH EILIAN
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

PORTH EILIAN ran well in a better race at Newmarket when starting as one of the roughies. It signals her well being, and if turning up in similar form she can add to her earlier victories at Beverley and Hamilton.

WORCESTER

Race 5 No4 LEXINGTON WOOD
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

LEXINGTON WOOD has headgear added following his defeat at odds-on at Perth back in the spring. Representing the top trainer at this course he’s ready for this return on ground that will suit.

Race 6 No3 KING’S AFFINITY (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Derham – Jockey: Paul O’Brien

Sourced as an unbeaten recruit from the point-to-point field, KING’S AFFINITY has been well tutored for a first outing under Rules and for a trainer who excels with this type of individual. The Nap is versatile regarding trip and ground, and can give paper favourite SHEEZER DANCER plenty to think about.

SEDGEFIELD

Race 4 No5 WHATSGOINGONMARVIN
Trainer: Mickey Bowen – Jockey: Shane Fenelon

Having been ambitiously campaigned on the Flat, WHATSGOINGONMARVIN needs considering on this return to National Hunt. His form under Rules is no great shakes but with a summer on his back he has the potential to step up on anything he’s achieved previously.

Race 5 No2 CHARACTER TESTING (Nap)
Trainer: Mark Walford – Jockey: Rebecca Hitchen

CHARACTER TESTING has developed a happy knack of finishing in the money and could prove the answer to this two miles handicap hurdle if getting onto the lead. He didn’t manage to achieve that on a recent visit to this course, but he’d previously chased home LITTLETOWN LAD, and at revised weights has a good chance of turning the tables with that foe.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No9 TWELVE BARS (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Despite running with the choke out, TWELVE BARS kept on in admirable fashion to chase home a well regarded opponent at Newmarket for which the Space Blues colt will be all the wiser. He’s well drawn and gets the vote in an interesting heat in which LANCASTER TOWER should also run well.

Race 4 No6 HATTA ROMANCE (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Tyler Heard

A step up to this mile and a quarter brought about notable progression from HATTA ROMANCE who will start at longer odds than she should because she hails from one of the smaller stables. In the colours of her trainer, the Frankel filly can show that her promising effort at Nottingham was no fluke.

Race 7 No9 LAST FLIGHT
Traner: James Horton – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

LAST FLIGHT has a swagger going into this stayers’ handicap courtesy of clear cut triumphs at Ffos Las and Southwell. The Masar filly is 4lb higher but shows no sign of regression while still able to operate from the base of the weights in an admittedly warmer race.

Race 8 No13 CELTIC JOHN (Each Way)
Trainer: Pat Phelan – Jockey: Paddy Bradley

Right at the end of play CELTIC JOHN is a bet I’m looking forward to in his rematch with SNOOKER MCCREW. The pair filled the exacta on a recent clash over course and distance but my selection is weighted to turn the tables.
