Race 2 No2 HE’S READYTORUMBLE (Nap)

This should be within the compass of HE’S READYTORUMBLE providing the grey can cope with his draw on the outer wing of the field. He stepped up from a promising first outing to chase home a well regarded opponent at Lingfield and is now fully tuned.

Race 5 No3 FIGHTING POET
Trainer: Richard Phillips – Jockey: Jonny Peate

FIGHTING POET came from a long way back when third n a classified at Lingfield to earn for the second time in as many starts. The veteran is now equipped with a first time visor, which can assist him to an overdue success.

Race 6 No12 THOMAS TALLIS (Each Way)
Trainer: John Mackie – Jockey: Finlay Bassett

Named after one of the greatest English choral composers, THOMAS TALLIS catches the eye operating at the base of the weights. He raised his game for a first frame finish in a similarly weak race at Southwell three weeks ago. That was a first glimmer of ability from the gelding, but he has more scope for progression than his foes.

CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 4 No4 NIFFLER (Nap)
Traner: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

Prescott’s blueprint for success with three-year-olds is to run them over a longer trip when switched to handicaps which is just what happened with NIFFLER when he scored at Newcastle. He’s moving onto grass under a penalty, but is strongly fancied to follow up.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No6 MERRY (Nap)
Trainer: James Horton – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

MERRY returns to the handicap arena with her tail up courtesy of success in a course and distance maiden last week. Though carrying a 6lb penalty she can defy it, as she’s improved from race to race and is well drawn for this 1400 metres contest.

Race 4 No8 SEACOLE
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

By his high standards Beckett has been quiet of late, but with SEACOLE he has a good chance of taking out this fillies’ handicap. The 400,000 guineas purchase has troubled the judge in each of her three starts and while the assessor has taken no chances she is probably better value than the two in front of her in the market.

Race 5 No1 AIGEAS
Trainer: Oliver Cole – Jockey: Harry Davies

AIGEAS has a ten week absence to overcome as he tries to defy a 10lb rise for his impressive course and distance success. He’s skipped an engagement in that period but the switch to Polytrack brought about a big improvement. It’s no surprise to see him returning to this surface for a trainer amongst the winners.

NEWBURY

Race 2 No9 YABREEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

I will be with YABREEN as long as there’s some market confidence behind the son of Mohaather. The Prince Faisal-owned colt has been for an away gallop under his pilot which offers encouragement he will be ready for a stable whose newcomers invariably need experience.

Race 4 No8 SOMERS ISLES (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

SOMERS ISLES travelled smoothly on the bridle for 1200 metres only to be worried out of it in the final furlong of her first outing at Newmarket. The daughter of Churchill will improve and looks a winner waiting to happen for the all conquering Balding stable.

Race 6 No5 BOLD SHOUT
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Hector Crouch

Almost as strong in the lucky last is BOLD SHOUT. Following corrective surgery for a breathing issue he looked a different horse when bolting up at Salisbury. On this first run in a handicap he can seal back-to-back successes and at the main expense of the consistent LION OF MALI.
