LINGFIELD PARK
Race 4 No9 TIGER BEETLE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tom Faulkner – Jockey: Zoe Lewis
TIGER BEETLE has manly struggled since joining his current handler but there was an element of hope forthcoming from his latest offering when third at Chepstow. This is his first visit to Lingfield in almost two and a half years while a return to the Polytrack might assist him to an overdue success.
Race 5 No1 BONE MARRA (Nap)
Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: Steve Donohoe
Three times scorer BONE MARRA has achieved each of those on the all-weather, and went close on his only previous run here when chasing home Rogue Messiah in April. On just a sixth outing on sand he’s the one with the points on the board, and can defy top weight for a stable amongst the winners.
CARLISLE
Race 2 No3 ROGUE PASSION (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Oisin Orr
This fillies’ novice can see ROGUE PASSION opening her account and recouping the losses sustained when she only just failed to catch her market rival Celestial over this course and distance last month. It’s strong form to bring to the table, and she should deliver.
Race 5 No3 SHIPSHAPE
Trainer: Robbie Llewellyn – Jockey: Oisin Orr
There’s plenty to like about SHIPSHAPE, who has given his connections a dream run of success through the spring and summer. The gelding probably needed his first start but since then has carded figures of 212112. He’s developed an affinity for Chester whilst also showing versatility to deliver over a range of distances. The stiff uphill finish here should play to his strengths.
Race 6 No2 LEELAWADEE
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Mark Winn
LEELAWADEE ran well on handicap bow at Thirsk on only a fourth career outing. The daughter of Lope Y Fernandez is back to the 1400 metres distance today but it shouldn’t stop her proving the pick of the field.
NOTTINGHAM
Race 2 No1 BLESSED VOYAGER
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
In a race that has cut up owing to the ground BLESSED VOYAGER should prevail. Neither of his two opponents can be discounted but this is a race he can dominate. Both the form of his Newbury triumph and Thirsk defeat (when odds-on) are working out, while he finished off that last race strongly.
Race 3 No3 HOPE RISING (Nap)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Harry Vigors
Having hosed up at Lingfield last week to provide her trainer with a rare success on the Flat, HOPE RISING is strongly fancied to strike while the iron’s hot. Once setting sail for home coming down the hill she soon had her rivals off the bridle and this move up to two miles is just what she wants, granted that most of her racing has happened over hurdles.
Race 4 No4 BRADBURY
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Jack Callan
Everything went wrong for BRADBURY on his latest start when he missed the break before meeting trouble in running at Pontefract. A dual scorer earlier in the season, he can have a think when asked to go and win his races, but as he gains experience that trait is subsiding. This strong traveller runs off the same mark, and will enjoy the return to the 2000 metres trip.
Race 6 No2 SUGAR SUGAR
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
This stable has been largely quiet aside from a winner at Goodwood and SUGAR SUGAR, who though hanging left on the Epsom undulations did well to open her account on handicap debut at the end of last month. The Dream Ahead filly will be equipped with an eye shield tonight.
HAMILTON PARK
Race 1 No1 TANJEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Jake Dickson
TANJEN was a two times winner on Tapeta last year but in five tries this season hasn’t yet managed to trouble the judge. She did however show a glimmer of her former sparkle on a recent visit to Chester and if building slightly on that from stall 1 can be competitive.
Race 2 No1 BALDETTI (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Sean Kirrane
BALDETTI looks the play after his very good run in defeat against Angela In My Heart at Pontefract. That represented a step up on his first outing to make him fully primed for today’s encounter against SEA MIRAGE, who looks the one to fill side two of the exacta.
Race 4 No3 POINT OF CONTACT (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald
Two horses that interest me in the very good race are GALYX and POINT OF CONTACT. Confidence in the former would be enhanced by rain but that isn’t going to materialise. POINT OF CONTACT is also happier on good ground and mirrored by his smooth York triumph in June, and he comes here a fresh horse. If back on his A-game the Park House raider should get involved.
Race 7 No9 FAIRYDALE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
FAIRYDALE has proved a work in progress but this is her best winning chance so far. She’s getting a fair amount of weight from each of her rivals and on the back of a career best effort last time looks to have been found a good winning opportunity.
