CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 5 No2 FREE PIC (Nap)
Trainer: Sue Smith – Jockey: Barry McHugh

FREE PIC has been making hay at this course with back-to-back successes last month. The five-year-old is only 3lb higher than for a cosy delivery last time when she landed some good bets from odds against to odds on. If turning up in the same frame of mind she should complete the hat-trick.

SOUTHWELL

WINDSOR

Race 2 No2 FIGHTER’S SPIRIT
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor – Jockey: Oisin Orr

FIGHTER’S SPIRIT has only a 3lb penalty to carry for his Beverley triumph in a rematch with CAPE FEAR. The latter enjoys a 7lb pull which theoretically would mean a reversal of those placings, but the selection was having his first run on that occasion, and has learned plenty from it.

Race 3 No3 BADRI (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Lewis Edmunds

BADRI endured a serious off day when unsighted on his latest start at Newcastle, but it might be worth putting a line through the performance. He had fared a lot better on two previous 2026 outings and would surely not be making the long journey from the North just for the goodness of his health.

Race 4 No6 SARGENT DENNIS (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SARGENT DENNIS appeals as the best bet on an interesting card. The Invincible Army gelding was no match for the heavily backed Marengo Storm at Kempton last week but faces nothing of that ilk and has a top flight jockey in the irons.

Race 7 No8 KINDLY QUEEN
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Ed Greatrex

Greatrex is riding particularly well and should enjoy a good spin on KINDLY QUEEN in this handicap for staying fillies. A muddling pace didn’t help her on handicap debut at Kempton, and she now returns with first time blinkers for a first run on grass.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 3 No10 ARLECCHINO’S REX (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Usher- Jockey: David Probert

There’s much to like about ARLECCHNO’S REX competing from close to the base of the weights in this bottom grade handicap. The hooded four-year-old brings recent figures of 1332 to the table, has a plum draw as well as a top tier jockey doing the steering.

Race 4 No3 CELESTRA (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

This should be a straightforward task for CELESTRA, who when finishing second at Beverley was returning from a protracted break. The daughter of Kingman will have benefitted from that outing, while she’s worked well on an artificial surface at home.

Race 6 No3 EASTERN VEIL
Trainer: Andrew Balding- Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Bangkok filly EASTERN VEIL didn’t enjoy the rub of the green on her Kempton reappearance when finishing fastest of all. She enters the handicap arena off a fair mark, has the champion jockey in her saddle and will benefit from the slightly longer trip.
