The Ghana international had been working his way back from a serious quad injury suffered during a Premier League clash with Sunderland in January. After weeks on the sidelines, Kudus had only just returned to team training, raising hopes of an imminent comeback.

However, those hopes were cut short, when Spurs announced that the forward had suffered a setback in his recovery.

In a brief statement, the club confirmed that Kudus will now undergo further specialist assessment, with surgery a possible outcome. Tottenham added that updates will follow once more information becomes available.

Kudus has not featured since picking up the quad and hamstring injury on January 4, and this latest development puts his season firmly in doubt. If surgery is required, the expected recovery period of around three months could rule him out for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

The timing is also a concern on the international stage. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, the setback raises serious questions over Kudus’s availability for Ghana.

For Tottenham, the news comes at a critical stage of the season, with squad depth already being tested. Losing a player of Kudus’s versatility and attacking quality would be a significant setback as they push towards their end-of-season objectives.
