This comes after she also withdrew from the Miami Open to focus on her recovery and improve her health.

This isn’t the first time Raducanu has had to step away. Since her win at the US Open 2021, her journey has been interrupted by a mix of injuries and health setbacks. It’s been a stop-start path for the young star, making consistency harder to build.

Then there’s the question of rankings. The Women’s Tennis Association operates on a 52-week points system, meaning players must continue competing to maintain their ranking. If Raducanu misses tournaments, she could lose points and slip down the rankings.

There is a concept called a protected ranking, but it only applies if a player is out for several months due to a serious condition. Even then, it mainly helps them re-enter tournaments, rather than maintain their exact ranking.

The 23-year-old has competed in six tournaments so far this season, winning seven out of her 14 matches.

Four of those victories came during an impressive run to the final of the Transylvania Open, where she was chasing her first title since her breakthrough win at the US Open in 2021.

She is now aiming to make her return at the Madrid Open, which will start on April 20 until May 3, 2026.

As she continues to recover, Emma Raducanu is using this time to look for a new coach after ending her six-month partnership with Francisco Roig in January 2026.

Right now, she is working with Alexis Canter and Mark Petchey. However, Petchey is not working with her full-time because he also has commentary duties.
