The Liverpool boss had an impressive first season, leading the team to win the Premier League. Many fans were excited by the way the team played, with attacking football and strong performances from key players. It looked like the club was starting a new and successful era under his leadership.

Things have not gone as well this season. The team has struggled to stay consistent, dropping important points, and they are now sitting in fifth place on the table, which is below expectations for the defending champions.

Another big issue is last season’s top goal scorer, Mohamed Salah, who has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent.

This news has surprised many fans and created a lot of discussion. Some people believe that Slot is partly to blame, as the two have not been seeing eye to eye.

Rumored to be replacing the Slot is former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, who spent only seven months in charge of Real Madrid before leaving the club by mutual agreement in January 2026.

His time there was difficult, as the team struggled with inconsistent results and failed to meet the club’s high expectations.

There were also reports of dressing room tension and disagreements over tactics, which made the situation even more challenging.

Speaking to the media, English footballer Steele said it’s now or never. “Now, what I heard the other day was that a lot of these clubs think that Alonso is quite attainable now.

“However, it is a bit of a now-or-never situation because he’s going to take a job this summer. Whether that’s [Manchester] City, whether that’s Liverpool, whether it’s well, I don’t know who else, but you know, Chelsea might have sacked Rosenior by them, for example.

“So, it’s either you get him now, or you don’t, because once he’s into one of them Premier League clubs, he’s not going to be your man anymore.

Liverpool will be aware of that when they come to make their mind up on Slot, and they probably will have it’s not the sort of thing where they can make a call to Alonso in on the 1st of June, for example. I think his future would be decided by then.”
