F1: Lewis Hamilton “much happier” with Ferrari for 2026 F1 campaign

After a deeply frustrating first year with Ferrari in 2025 – the first season in his storied career without a podium – the seven‑time world champion says he has rediscovered his drive and confidence ahead of the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park from 6 to 8 March.

Hamilton did not hold back when reflecting on last year’s struggles. “I think I kind of lost sight for a second of who I was,” he said, explaining how he used the off‑season to reset. “And that person’s gone, you won’t see that person again.”

The 41‑year‑old Briton has been candid about how testing and preparation have felt very different this time around. “It’s different to the first year … and a much nicer feeling having spent a year with the team, understanding the culture, finding ways of working together,” Hamilton explained. “I think we’re in a good place now as a team, much happier.”

Hamilton also outlined his ambitions for the year ahead, saying simply: “The goal is to win. That’s what, of course, everyone’s working towards,” and stressing the importance of making the most of each weekend.

“Mercedes looks particularly quick, and I’m not really sure whether we have seen the full unleashed Red Bull yet, so it’s really, really exciting,” he added.

Reflecting the sport’s own shake‑up under sweeping new technical regulations, he described the 2026 season as “the most challenging it’s ever been,” but said he feels well‑positioned with Ferrari’s SF‑26 and a team that has learned from past mistakes.

As Formula 1’s Australian season opener arrives, Hamilton’s message is unmistakable: after a low point, he’s refocused, refreshed and ready to fight for victories once more – and to push for that elusive eighth world title.
