CARLISLE

Race 4 No6 PRESIDENT SCOTTIE (Each Way)
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

PRESIDENT SCOTTIE has largely underwhelmed and a move to put him back over hurdles met with muted response on his latest start. Against that he’s become well handicapped as a chaser, and at a likely working man’s’ price he’s worth supporting to raise his game.

Race 8 No4 SMILE BACK (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Phillips – Jockey: Finn Lambert

SMILE BACK put in a pleasing effort when second at Leicester, only to race too keenly when moved up to three miles at Taunton. She now has a hood reapplied, and if settling is more than capable of bouncing back.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 2 No2 HAZIYM
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Matthew Slater

After an encouraging effort two starts back, HAZIYM blew the start and could never get competitive at Lingfield. He’s on a workable mark, and if breaking on terms can pack a punch at an each way price.

Race 4 No2 PAPA COCKTAIL (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: O McSweeney

PAPA COCKTAIL did this column a good turn when landing a gamble over the course and distance last week and continues to trouble the judge as a confirmed hold up horse that has a turn of foot. He’s up the class band today, but is in such good heart he can again swoop to conquer at his favourite track.

Race 6 No4 DARK SUN (Each Way)
Trainer: James Bennett – Jockey: Laura Coughlan

A line can be drawn through DARK SUN’s poor showing last week when the Dark Angel filly blew the start. Berthed n the rail here, she needs to have her trapping boots on, but if breaking better can definitely get into the argument.
