Mikel Arteta has warned Arsenal to be on high alert for Manchester United’s counter-attacking threat as the sides meet at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

“They are so good in a lot of departments,” Arteta said. “When they have space and certain players can run, they become lethal. You saw that in Manchester. Historically, that’s always been part of their game.” He expects Carrick to bring intensity and fresh ideas, making United unpredictable and dangerous despite a difficult season.
Arteta highlighted the challenge of facing a team capable of punishing even the best sides on the break. “They have a lot of attributes to cause problems. But like every team, they also have weaknesses. We have to be smart, adapt, and impose our game where we’re strongest.”
The Arsenal boss also pointed to the psychological boost a new manager can bring. “Whenever a new coach comes in, intensity rises,” he said. “Players are motivated to impress, and Michael’s team showed that in the derby. We know it will be a really tough match, so we need to be ready for their energy and tactical shifts.”
Arteta also reflected on the historic rivalry between the clubs, which adds extra spice to the encounter. “These are two massive clubs with a long history of battles at the highest level. Individual moments, quick reactions, and space exploitation have always been decisive, and we have to be ready for that.”
