In the 25-year-old’s contract, there is a £65 million release clause that will be active from January 1 to January 10, and out of all four clubs that were interested in him, only City has contacted Bournemouth about the release clause.

Chelsea decided to end talks after inquiring about the release clause, with Tottenham, Liverpool, and Manchester United still trying their luck. Sky Sports Senior Journalist Kaveh Solhekol broke down why the Blues pulled the plug.

“All their rivals are looking to sign Semenyo as well because he’s such a talented player and exceptionally.

“He does have this release clause of around £60 million until the 10th of January. So my information is that it is something that Chelsea looked at, but they have decided not to take it any further.

“And you have got to remember they have signed so many wide and forward players in the last 12 months.

Kaveh also believes that the winger wants to join Liverpool, and football fans should keep a lookout in the coming days. In the 2025 season, Semenyo has scored 14 goals with six assists in the Premier League. Bournemouth signed Semenyo from Bristol City in 2023.
