Manchester United secured a dominant 4-1 Premier League victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.
The coach insisted his side must become more ruthless despite the big win.
Amorim’s side moved up to sixth in the table and went level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea after a controlled display at Molineux, extending their unbeaten away league run to five matches.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring after 25 minutes when Casemiro won possession in midfield and found Matheus Cunha, who set up Fernandes for a close-range finish.
Wolves responded just before half-time when Jean-Ricner Bellegarde drove home David Moller Wolfe’s cut-back, scoring their first league goal since October and giving the hosts brief hope.
United took full control after the break. Diogo Dalot burst through the defence and squared for Bryan Mbeumo to tap into an empty net, restoring the lead early in the second half. Mason Mount then made it 3-1 just after the hour mark with a clean volley from Fernandes’ cross.
Fernandes completed the scoring from the penalty spot after Yerson Mosquera was penalised for handball, firing the ball into the bottom-left corner to put the result beyond doubt.
Despite the convincing scoreline, Amorim said his side still had work to do.
“We played well most of the time,” he said. “We should have a different score in the end. I’m pleased with the second half because we understood we had another opportunity.”
He added: “It wasn’t tactical at half-time. It was clear we were dominating but not finishing properly. We need to be better in the details.
“We have to improve the quality of our shots and focus not just on scoring, but also on protecting our goal.”
The result condemned Wolves to their eighth straight league defeat and confirmed they would sit bottom of the Premier League at Christmas.
